Hey guys,
I'm headed to the Green this week and if you saw my post about a new fly fishing rig then you know I'm an extreme novice to this side of fishing.
Can anyone give some advice about what kind of flies I'll need to take with me? Sizes, patterns and advice on how to use them most effectively would be greatly appreciated by yours truly.
Thanks guys.

Thank you very much. I've been hearing a lot about presenting 2 at a time. I think a midge below a streamer..? Is this something I should do and how do you do it? Tie the small one to the streamer somehow, or what?

I was up there on the 2nd and 3rd, we floated the a section and fished the take out area. in the lower a section and near the take out they were hitting small, size 20 bwo and other small grey emergers or drys. From the dam down we caught them on small zebra midges (black, rainbow, purple) red copper john, all size 20, and im sure smaller would be even better. We also caught a few on a size 14-16 bead head pheasent tail. midges were tied onto the pheasant tails, and also a size 8 light brown woolly bugger. some other folks said they were catching them on something they called a sparkle, which i was told is similar to a pheasant tail, only its tied with mylar and the head has a mylar wing case and sparkly out shoots from the head. good luck and have fun.

This is great! Thank you all very much for your input. I'd prefer not bust out the bait caster, but I'd prefer even more to not get skunked!
Hope this fly experiment goes well.

Sadly, fly fishing does take commitment.[cool] I say leave the spinning gear home and try harder[laugh]
