Headed to DC in the morning to try out a few new lures and a newly wired down rigger and I-Pilot.
Anyone been there in the last day or two and have any tips to share?
Thank you.

Have heard that they have been hitting the trout pretty good in the back of Walsberg Bay.
A few weeks ago I was doing pretty good along the railroad tracks using spinners and Shad Raps.

So how did you do?
I went up this morning and it was tough fishing for everyone that I talked too.
We did end up in the Bay and for us Jakes spin a lure was the ticket and only lure that worked for us.
Trolling with light line and mostly just casting around 9:30- 11:30

It was rough on my buddy and I also.
I ended up with 3 bows on a black bugger and my buddy didn't even get to land a fish.
We trolled about a mile of the tracks, then spent an hour at the inlet on the flats, then caught the 3 bows all in the Snows Marina bay.
Maybe that is where the DNR released all the hatchery fish?
It was the first fishing trip since finishing installation of all the goodies on my new boat.
I had installed a Honda kicker, a Minnkota Terrova with I-Pilot , and a Mag 10 down rigger. What a good feeling to have them all perform flawlessly.
Good luck to both of you next time and thanks for the tips.

Is Snow's Boat Camp no longer there? Just kiddin' I know it is long gone, but I grew up with it being there. When I am no longer young, I will have to admit that I am an "old timer" but not quite yet.

We took the boat up with my daughter, nephew and father Saturday morning 7AM to 11AM.
We also fished Wallsburg bay (with a lot of others).
I lost exact count in keeping everyone fishing, but we boated somewhere between 35 and 40 fish. I kept five that are currently soaking in brine for the smoker.
Almost all of ours came on trolled fly-based lures (at some points of the morning, flies with spinner blades were better, at others, just bare flies).
Nothing else produced for us (I had downriggers with lures that caught nothing all day). Flies near the surface was the trick.
That was a little slower for us than was last Saturday... when three of us boated 48 in the same span.

[cool][#0000FF]I dunno. I fergot.
I used to launch my tube there a lot in the early 80s. Then I moved to Arizona for a few years and when I came back...Snows was gone. Some good memories of that place.

Thats true, Flies on the surface is what we heard from a Guy in a Orange Kayak. He caught a lot... but our Jakes did well too until 11:30 then the bite was off for us.
We didn't do well on anything else trolling lead line down two, three or four colors. And power bait wasn't getting any hits from the finless Freddies either.

That's funny. We told the guy in the orange kayak about the flies pretty early on in the day.
Odd about the Jakes. We had those out too and they didn't get hit at all. They usually do well for us up there too. Last week they accounted for about 10 of the 48 (Flies were still much better, but the Jakes were close behind).
Maybe we had them too deep.

It was a neat little place with camping, boat launch, and boat storage. With it tucked up in the back of the bay not many boats went up there so it stayed pretty calm while the lake was high enough. But you didn't want to get on the bad side of the operator he could get quite honery. [

To far from shore and to deep.
The last couple of trips almost all of my fish have hit from as far out as twenty and as close two feet from the shoreline.
Soon they will head out into the main part of the lake and the rapala trollers will be putting the smackdown on them.
