Nice Catfish
#1
Had a nice little fishin trip on the jordan river today, me and "eyechaser" decided to head out in preperation for the catfish contest comin up. We ended up catching 15-20 fish, 2 or 3 suckers, and the rest were catfish. all were very keepable and okay size. "eyechaser" was able to hook into a really big catfish. gave him hell of a fight. Over all it was alot of fun besides walkin through the river ,getting cold, and that miserable wind! lol!

Sounds like some fun. If you're talking about the BFT cat contest - it's ON! I bumped up the start date, cuz seemed like folks were already getting into 'em. Sorry if you missed that, but get your banner and tape. Looks like a male cat there. Bumpy headed bully of a fish at that!

Sorry about your sweatshirts though. Looks like somebody spilled some mess on 'em! [:p]

Good sized cat, any idea how long it was? I'm not sure most fishermen realize it or not but catfish are not at all like a trout and putting a finger on a gill with not harm it unless the gill is torn, at least that is what I've experienced.

Catfish are indestructable. One time we went down to Utah Lake and my dad a caught one about 8:00 a.m. and threw it in the cooler. When we got home about 3:00 p.m. he went to fillet it and it was still alive.

I think you could cut a catfish in half and it would grow into 2 catfish, like a worm.

In my limited experience, I'd guestimate you'd be on order of the 10lb mark at 30inches.. varies - females tend to be fatter (yeah - QUOTE on that beaaaches!) and heavier, especially this time of year.

Nice cat all the same, even for a southerner! [:p]

Nice fish. I'd say around 7 to 8 lbs. Looks like a nice male. If it was a female, you'd be around 10+. But too many people on here get bent out of shape when someone guesses a weight. I caught a 30 inch male a couple weeks ago that was only 7 lbs. Yours is a little thicker looking than the one I caught. It's a nice one, however you look at it.
