Does anyone fish the Diamond Fork River. I have been wanting to fish it. I would like to fish for some cutthroats, are they spawning right now? I fished the lower part and caught one brown, but I want to fish the upper part with the cutthroats. I have never caught a cutthroat and I want to pretty badly. Anybody have any tips?

Try right at 3 Forks and work your way up toward the fish barrier and you'll find cutts this time of year. It's pretty much only cutts above the barrier. Usually you'll find more of them if you go several miles above 3 forks this time of year. Even better go a mile or 2 above the next gate up. Not sure what gates are open yet. Many times I'll bring a bike just in case the gates are closed so I can cover a few miles quickly. I've never bothered with streamers. They take nymphs freely and occasional some descent dry action this time of year. With the warming weather best to start early as sometimes it'll turn more off color from snowmelt by mid afternoon.

If you haven't gone yet a little update- there is no run off left to speak of. Skip the section right above 3 Forks as it's all sulfur spring laden with the low water. The gate at 3 Forks is open so drive up above the sulfur springs and then some. Good news is it won't turn to chocolate in the afternoon.

Where is three forks, is that the creek with the hot springs in it? Or is that fifth water? Or is three forks the upper diamond fork?

Three Forks is right by the parking lot for the 5th Water hot pots trail. 5th and 6th Waters join upstream and continue down as 6th Water plus 1st Water comes in right before Diamond Fork. That place was packed plus a couple dozen cars parked on the road yesterday. Probable had to take a number and wait for any of the hot pots to open up.

Ok that makes sense... I just kept hearing about all these "waters" and had no clue what it meant. I will try to figure it out and do a little exploring! Keeps me humble to learn new water... Thanks riverdog! Look forward to checking out the area
