Just wondering if anyone has been by Henrys lately to see if the ice is off already? Just trying to get an idea regarding time between ice off and the opener.
I heard rumors earlier and haven't done any checking since then, but I was also wondering if male brookies have been stocked in Henrys?

I drove by there last Monday, 4/29 and the lake was 99% iced, some minimal open water around the shoreline.

Thanks MTBob, Fishbouy, and jabink89 for the info. I figured it would be coming off within the next week like last year.

Just one more bit of information:
it appeared as though the service station and facilities across from the entry into the Henry's lake campground were closed. I didn't look closely but it looked like it hadn't opened for the season. The nearest services may be Macks Inn in Island Park.

I saw on Facebook that the ice on Henrys has finally gone off. This will make for a better opening weekend.
The fish will have moved off the banks and spread out through the lake.
The Barney's wont like it as they won't be able to combat fish from the bank like they have done in past years. Thisnwas a joke trying to launch or trailer up as you won't haveto beat the barney's from the boat docks.
Depending on how fast the water warms up will detemine how deep they will be .
I hope for a nice big silver dollar wet snow storm for the opening. This will also keep the fish slaughter down. i will put up the top, side curtains and turn the heater while i troll and stay warm.

Hi every one,
Brand new to the site, I drove over to Henrys yesterday, pretty much like MTBob said, still mostly iced up, thawed out about 15 feet from the shore, a little more right at the state dock. Sorry, didn't think to take a pic. Hoping for a good year at Henrys!

I checked the ice at the State Park today (Saturday) and the lake is 99% ice covered. There is about 40 yards of open water in front of the boat ramp and over to Howard Slough.
The Island Park Reservoir is ice free.

That's good news, hopefully the fish can get in and spawn then head back out to the main body to avoid the dock slaughter.

Time to get my flame suit on........its funny to hear everyone bash people keeping fish from the dock areas on the opener and keeping fish. I see just as many people in boats come in with full limits of fish everytime I fish it during the summer as I do people fishing from the bank on the opener. The double standard blows my mind. End of the day you can keep two fish from Henrys regardless of where you catch em. One method doesn't make a person more entitled to keep their two fish more than the other one.

I'm not trying to start anything here, but I believe what has most people upset about what happens at the docks is that there is a lot of poaching. That was the way I took it anyway.
I've never seen it, so I don't have any personal experience pertaining to that. For that reason, you won't hear me complaining about it either. Just from all I've heard about it, that is my perception.
