Gorge or Berry next week?

Which should I go to next week for trolling action?

gorge if you want to use a boat ,i don't think the berry will be ice free.tight lines.

The berry wont be ice free for sure next week. There isn't hardly any open water, what is open, if its as big as a wading pool, is surrounded by people.

I'm not sure yet. I'm needing to get my toon wet. Guys in toons were slaying little bows at DC.

Went to the Gorge this week. Fished below the hideout to Jarvies. No luck on the lakers. I tried trolling rapalas at 20-25 feet deep just off shore.
Caught plenty of rainbows trolling the surface just off rocky banks. They were spawning in clearwater coves. Saw some very large ones in a certain cove which might be where they were planted. Caught one before they spooked. These spawners were not interested in bait. Smaller nonspawners would bite on lures and bait.
I may be going back next week. If anyone has a any hints on trolling for small lakers in this area I'd be grateful.

[#000000][font "Times New Roman"][size 3]Try different lures and baits when trolling, perhaps use a big dead minnow or carp. I don't troll with a downrigger. I like using a 3-way swivel + sinker. Look on the finder and find places you can drag and bounce the weight slowly and carefully on the bottom in 20-60 feet of water. You can use a bottom-bouncer too in the shallower areas. You get lots of small mack pups this way. [/size][/font][/#000000]

I'm planning on heading up Sunday to drop the boat off at lucern for the season,
gonna fish for a couple hours while I'm there anyways. hopefully i can get at least something to bite
