My family was heading down to fish the gorge for the memorial day weekend so i thought i will sneak off and hit the green. I split the day between fishing little hole as well as working my way down from the dam. As i started wading i realized the patch in my waders wasn't going to hold up, luckily the fly shop rented me a pair for $10.00, crisis averted! So i started walking and was amazed at how many fish i saw feeding in the shallows. So I tied on a little red ant and started sight fishing... First cast I watched a nice brown come slowly up and slurp the ant, BAM! first fish on! As i was fighting this bad boy i realized my 4wt isn't going to cut it so i grabbed the 6wt but man what a blast... Such a healthy looking fish. Slow going for the next few hours but then i switched to nymphing and picked up a couple on san juans. Around 1 i started seeing a few cicadas so i started throwing those and picked up a few that way... Another productive pattern was a yellow sally size 14. Ended up the day with around 9 gorgeous fish. I can only imagine how having a drift boat can change the game... hope to get back soon. Thanks to everyone who chimed in with tips and info!
I was alone so getting pics was tough but i got a few... (sorry, i don't know how to post them in the thread)

 TK-
Great to hear that you had a great trip and caught a variety of fish on different patterns. That's what it's all about!!! Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

Thanks all! Ya looks like a bird tried to snag that first rainbow, but it's still a gorgeous fish! Nothing like them smacking a big cicada pattern. What a blast!
Nice looking bows!! So did you fish flaming gorge also?
well they ended having boat trouble so they were stuck to the shore... I fished a bit on Monday morning and picked up a few rainbows. They were looking to go for lake trout but that didn't work out unfortunately

Excellent fish man, I'm totally jealous.
Off topic, but was anyone besides me shocked at what TK actually looks like? I mean, doesn't everyone else form an image of what a poster looks like when they read their posts? I do, and son, I was way off. (I pictured you as some teenage hipster, FFL wannabe... [sly])

What in the world would give you that idea? I am indeed a grown man.
