Really not happy about this, but if the numbers are low I totally understand. I wish Idaho were a little more aggressive in the way they did negotiations with Washington and Oregon about their commercial fisheries. On low number years we are always the ones to miss out. I think all seasons should be held until a certain number of fish are actually allowed into Idaho. It certainly seems that our fish get hammered long before they even cross the border.

Bummer for sure......... I was hoping for a local fishery but I guess I should be happy with 1 weekend on the clearwater and one on the salmon at riggins. Like steelfan said it would be nice if Idaho had a say on Idaho bound fish instead of letting oregon and washington commercials and sporties hammer on the front half of the run get shut down and then reopen again to hammer on em some more........

In defense of the tribes especially the Nez Perce they do quite a bit in reguards to habitat restoration and planting smolt. From what I understand they are all for pumping certain areas full of hatchery origin smolt to allow for both tribal and non tribal harvest.

Im not aware of the Nez perce pujtting out any adi clipped smolts. They DO stock million+ smolts though. I'll have to check on whether any are clipped.
The lower river compact is a joke for ID. I wish they would go to court and get at least a vote, since most years 70% of the springers are ID bound. But then it would still be 2 votes to 1

Him Jigs and thanks for your note. I talked to 'em again this morning because I was curious as to the salmon fishing historical data. My contact there thinks the last salmon fishing took place in 1977 and there was no fishing until the short surprise season in 2005. Then there wasn't any in 06-07-08 and then there have been seasons in 09-10-11 and 12. SO that means there's been 5 salmon fishing seasons in the last 36 years, if I did my math right. IDFG Staff is double checking those years for me to make sure I am using the correct information.[/quote]
Good perspective and thanks for that data John.
