I live in So Utah and will be in Heber next week for the 4th. I'm bringing the boat and plan to hit the Berry or nearby lakes. I've ice fished the Berry for years but never summer/boat fished it. Not really rigged to troll, so curious about summer techniques? I literally planned to zoom to some usual decent ice fishing spots, graph away and jig for them the same as the winter. Should I be cast something, trolling anyway with light gear, throw on powerbait and take a nap? [:p]
Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

All of the above.
We've been hammering them trolling but with each passing week the downriggers are becoming more and more necessary as fewer and fewer fish are coming in on the shallow stuff.
Just from the eyeball test I'd say more boats are jigging and drift bait fishing than trolling anyway. Tube jigs with Chub meat, PB rigs, and worms are all producers... some better than others depending on the day and the intended target.

I fish Strawberry almost exclusively vertically jigging. It can be extremely effective this time of year. Also, casting a tube jig out from the boat and bouncing it back can also be effective. Try shallow early and work out to about 35' to 38' later.

Thanks guys! It sounds like the techniques I'm used to and rigged for will work just fine this time of year.

Follow up- which boat ramp is the easiest and least crowded? I don't need fuel or supplies, just need to drop it in the lake.

The Soldier Creek side is far less busy than Strawberry Bay. It's worth the extra 12 min. drive.

What's the usual wind patterns like on the lake? "Normal" day the wind picks up at X and dies at Y or is calm all day, etc? In Heber now and trying to decide if I should try evenings or hit it bright and early only. Thanks yet again!

just went saturday it was a nice day, the wind started picking up at around noon on the main lake, usually when the wind picks up i head towards soldier creek where the wind is usually blocked from the mountains (depending on the day) . I usually catch some nice cuts in there too, got a 23'' there saturday. a lot of people were fishing almost everywhere but it was still fun to be out. im not sure when the wind dies, we stopped fishing at around 2 and it was way windy at the main bay area, but where we were at at between there and soldier creek it was just nice as can be
