Glow jigs for cats??
#1
I was wondering if anyone has tried or had any success trying this? I'm gonna give it a whirl tonight ant see what happens, the idea came from the in fisherman TV show where they were using zip jigs to catch large cats, but anyhow, any info would be appreciated! I'll post my results later! Thanks.

Are you going to tip your jigs with bait? That will help for sure. In my experience, if the cats have the feed sack on, they will hit lots of lures and bait.

[#0000FF]Contrary to popular belief, channel cats do not always feed best at night...and they do not feed only on ripe smelly bait. In waters that are clear enough for sight feeding catfish will chase down and feed on live minnows, crawdads and other live critters. That makes them good targets for all kinds of lures...and even flies.

A lot of us in Utah have caught a bunch of cats during the daytime on jigs being fished for white bass or other species. And, while a bit of "sweetener" (worm or fish flesh) helps get more bites sometimes, it is not always necessary. Lots of cats caught on undecorated lures.

For night fishing, it couldn't hurt to fish something with glow on it. But because cats are very sensitive to vibrations...even in dark murky water...they can still forage effectively without sight.

Let us know how you do.
