Toons and Trailers and such
#1
[#502800]I noticed in some other threads that sometimes the toons are tied to trailers with the toon points toward the tow vehicle....... Others have the bow of the toon towards the tow vehicle.[/#502800]
[#502800]How about some comments on the whys and wherefores? Which way would you tie a renegade?[/#502800]

We put them facing the vehicle, why, the seats[Smile] Not sure which way is more wind resistance, but our trailer was designed got the two individual pontoon style boats so the tie down rings are to the front.
Now with the X5's, the Assaults, and the Renegade/Predator, with the tie down to the front, that is the way we have to put the boats on as you can only tie down the front of the boat because of the seat area. We do use the D ring in the back of the boat to tie down the back of the boat.

I tie mine down to a thule and yakima rack. Gives me 4 tie down points that are nice and strong.

Since my toons are open at bothe ends I tie them down seat facing forward. The seats are the plastic fishing type that has a strap that snaps it shut so the seat doesn't flip up. I could tie them down seat facing backward and it would work too. Every toon is different. So try different methods and go with the best.[cool]

Might not be the answer you are looking for, but I place my toon in the bed of my truck facing forward so I can back up to the lake and drop it in. I leave the front beached while I mount the battery and motor which is usually deep enough for my motor. I can then just push the toon back from shore and sit down.

Exactly, we slide off the trailer the same way.
