Stopped by the Ladders at Strawberry today just to check things out. There were hundreds of dead suckers, chubs, and a few trout floating all through the Ladders area. Any idea why so many are dead? I'm sure some were caught and killed but not as many that were floating. Stunk to high heaven too.

I believe that the suckers were spawning last week and attempting to run up the spillway (or whatever you call it) when they were pouring water into the lake. Naturally, the other fish are attracted to the eggs and so would follow.
I'm not sure if suckers die after spawning, but my guess is some of them died as a result of improper handling. From what I heard there were a lot of people there trying to catch the bigger cutts and rainbows that were chasing the eggs.
