How is Strawberry doing? I am thinking of heading up there after labor day weekend. A couple buddies of mine and I are heading up thursday after work and fishing all day friday. Anyone is welcome to join we are just using kayaks and conoes. We will be down in the soldier creek side.
The Plastic Navy is at it again.

That will be an epic weekend.
I have had great success the last two weeks so you can look forward to some of the best fishing ever up there.

I was at SC a couple weeks ago, and lets just say, I landed more fish there in four hours than the whole weekend at CC.
I found them in 30 to 40'.
I will be going to the Strawberry side the weekend after Labor Day.

It has been an exceptional year at strawberry. The cutthroats have been crazy good with rainbows and kokanee close behind. The last few weeks I have noticed that the salmon have become elusive again...if anyone has had any luck and wants to trade information, I am open for pm's...
Most of the cutts have been right in the middle to upper end of the slot with the occasional buster...27" has been the best for me this year. All fish have been caught with downriggers and a dodger and squid. Somedays orange was working, others it was pink, and green has been productive too. I have found the rainbows in the narrows and at Hawes point toward renegade.
Be careful in the narrows. The low water has made a few spots a little scary with rocks showing, or barely under the water level.
Also, if anyone has a crazy good recipe for something out of the norm for salmon and would like to share...I would love to try it and it would be much appreciated.
Good luck and have fun! It should be a good weekend...if the weather holds.

I’ve been blackening my strawberry salmon lately and it’s a very good alternative to the standard butter and lemon pepper.

· Pre heat a DRY cast-iron skillet as hot as you can on your Camp Chef or side burner of your outdoor grill. Do not cook inside because of the excessive smoke created in this method of cooking.
· Coat your fillets in melted butter and Paul Prudhomme’s blackened seasoning rub. (Don’t be shy with the rub)
· Cook flesh side down, roughly 4-7 minutes. Flip fillets and cook 1 more minute.
· Remove and enjoy. Yum!!!!

I was at strawberry Friday stared out by the Narrows did not see any on the fishfinder moved over to the opening of haws point,( Meadows) and stared getting cuts one after the other. did not catch any on the downriggers.
most was got on a rapala with two sinkers on the line and out about 100 feet. the other pole( leaded line) had a Lucky Craft Pointer on hooked a big one and it broke the leader. that lure cost about $15.00
was fishing in 45 to 30 feet of water.
moved north of mud creek by knolls put a Squid on a downrigger and got two Kokanee, water is not very deep and lots of moss
