I had a chance to take the tube up to Deer Creek for a trip early this morning.
I launched from the marina at 6:30... it was foggy the entire morning through 9:30 when I left. Water temp 68 degrees.
I fished from 6:30 to 9AM. Tally was 14 SMB (most in the 10" class... one nice 12" tho), 1 LMB, 3 Rainbow (two 14-15" and one 17") Trout.
I used the same techniques I have been most of the summer there: Pop-R's for bass while slowly trolling in about 20' of water dragging a wormed wedding ring.
Most of the Bass were caught on the Pop-R, all the trout came in on the wormed wedding ring.
The fog really made the it feel like a cold weather day rather than a warm weather day.....
Best part was, NO Power Squadron showed up. I can't imagine what those boys will do if it's foggy up there this weekend.

Drat. I had decided to drive to DC yesterday, too. But by the time I got my boat ready to go, it would have been darn near noon before I could have arrived; deep into power squadron time, so I didn't go. It's almost two hours from Ogden.
But after the three-day fiasco, perhaps I will.

I drove by today at about 1PM and there were only 3-4 skiers on the water... and about 20 fishing boats.
Now that school is on, evenings during the week can be painful for another 2-3 weeks but daytime is much more fishing friendly.

Just don't get into any break-dance fights with the power squadron.

Thanks! And if anything it's getting better.
I had a 22 SMB (3 nice 12" to fry up), 2 LMB (both released), and 1 trout morning early today.... Fished from 6:30 to 8:30.

It is definitely an early morning bite right now. I got up there for a few hours on Saturday. I hit some main lake spots that usually produce in the summer. Got 6 on a Pop R and a couple on a grub. Even caught a Mudder on the grub, left him on the rocks for a coyote dinner !! Had my tackle set up for Utah Lake and could only find two of the color grub they were hitting, couldn't buy a bite on several other colors. Went back to the Pop R for the last hour and they were pretty much off it because the power squadron was in full force. Wanted to hit Wallsburg and Rainbow, but to many people. Will have to go back this week and check them out, also get on the water before 7:30 for that early morning bite. Need to see if there are any weeds growing in the North end also !!

Is all the snow melted off the back of Timp yet? I figure this might be the year that it finally goes bare.

yes and it has been for a couple of weeks. It looks like the real dirty snow even melted off this year. Does anybody on the board know why there is a crane at the shore in Rainbow Beach.Just curious.
