Launched from Renegade about 7:30 am. Fog was just starting to lift, it was cold 27 degrees driving in.

Fish were all on top both Cutts and Rainbows. Couldn't keep them off. Used a worm under a bobber for 3 hours and then they moved lower but not by much. Switched to tube jigs tipped with worm and the bite was still on. Lost track of how many we caught but it was a lot. Didn't take any pictures (forgot camera) but all were in the slot range and 95% were Cutts. Kept one Rainbow for dinner. Will be going back this coming week depending on weather.

You say on top, but you were using worm and bobber,...how far down from the bobber were you fishing?

I notice one rise here and there. I tried Intermediate line but nothing. The Type VII and III however were very busy. They were hanging on the bottom at 40'.
Noticed several boats trolling with pop gear were doing very well too.

Flygoddess,

Two feet below the bobber. There was not any hatch going on that I could see but they were skimming the surface. I did try using a black wooly bugger and had a few hits but not as steady as the worm and bubble. I would perfer using a fly because they are easier to let go. I bend the barb on the hook down but sometimes have to cut the line as close to the hook as possible when not hooked on the lip.

I agree, you are much less likely to gut hook a fish with a fly than one with bait.
But, being a fly fisher, when someone says top action I do think dries.[Smile]

Sub surface would also be emergers. Floating line with long leaders, or Intermediate line.

Interesting note, when I did use my intermediate, I did in fact catch cutthroats. But on my fast sinking lines off the bottom I caught Rainbow.

I also fish two flies about 2' apart and got several doubles which means schools.

Sounds like a blast! I should get up there and try my luck at some trout!
