Got a chance to drag the kids and the hound out for a little adventure. Shore-bound we were. Headed over to a spot along the Bear for some exploring.
Seemed a school of fish was settled in under some tree branches, and frisky as can be - hitting everthing that dropped in their face. Adept at ripping a worm, bluegill are. If I'd only had a fly! Plenty of younglings slurping the surface. Yo BWO! Next time!
Nabbed a few lower down that had some hunk to 'em, and even hooked up a few frisky bass. Short trip, but fun all the same.

Nice outing Yote, looks like your taking up my slack. Sure wish I could get out. Can't believe how low all the sloughs are. The pelican were really working the fish in the shallows this morning. And so the thinning begins. Later J

As always - was hoping to find some Crappie, but the only thing I caught out on the tree branches were nibbles, then snags!
I've run into a number of spots where the Gills seem to congregate, up in nooks and crannies against a shore.
Almost took some video - wasn't quite "boiling" - but they hover all near the surface, and swat at various things swinging downstream.
Just wish I could find the big-arse Walleye that's slurping around underneath the school!

If you look - that first shot - my pup was digging a den. She was determined to find some cool dirt! Kept kicking up the clods at my daughter! It was too funny!
Has a preggers pup once that was determined she was gonna dig a den to have her pups in! I though the blanketed closet inside was a much better choice! Oh, pups these days!!!

Was seeing a lot of Pelicans along the inner slough - into the horseshoe and such. I'll bet they'll LOVE the drawdown! Veritable feast! But they could also guide us?
Wonder if we'll end up with some 'trapped pockets' of fish? It'll be interesting.
Got a buddy who flies. Might see if we can swing an aerial tour, see where the river channels really run.
Wonder what it'd take to get a "current" satellite shot?
Google THIS!

Ya those birds were really fishing hard, looked like lots of fish. Made me want to try the casting net. I'll bet there will be trapped pockets, but hopefully this pre drain will help keep more fish safe later on. Maybe it will just kill them twice too. Hey take lots of pixs if ya get up in a plane. That would be really fun and useful too. Sure wish I could go play in these crazy conditions. Later J
