Pineview Perch Preview
#1
I fished in the Narrows yesterday.
Saw a lot of fish all over the bottom.
Dropped down a Cutt'r Bug tipped with a piece of crawler and found the Perch.
They were all about 7" to 9" long. This is encouraging for ice fishing this year.
Also caught a bunch of Crappie but none were over 9".

As I have fished Pineview the past 3 years, I have seen a growth rate of about 1 1/2" per year.
Not a fast growth rate but steady.

[#0000FF]Nice. A few questions: 1. What depth were the perch? 2. Is the port ramp open...with no fees? 3. How is the mud at the ramp?

Thanks

Port ramp is now open with no fees, yes. Last time I was there the ramp had a little mud at the bottom but it wasn't too bad as long as you stayed towards the middle.

We went yesterday. Port ramp is open, no fees. The dock is not connected to the land however. didnt have any issues with our 14ft aluminum boat. however, the catching aspect was a problem.

[#0000FF]Thanks to all for the info. 'Bout the same as last year, only lower. Two years ago it was almost full...very high. Never the same two years in a row.

I hit Deer Creek this morning so Pineview is the next one on my smackit list. Probably early next week.

Hey Pat,

I fished both sides of cemetery point about a week and a half ago (9/27/2013) and found plenty of willing perch and crappie too. Most crappie are small, like 5-6”. But did bring home four nicer ones. Perch are more on the dink side as well. Most coming in around the 7-8” range as stated above. Tasty, but small.

Thanks for the report Dale, no elk last weekend, so I'll be spending this coming weekend up there as well. Might not be until the end of Oct or so before we get a chance to get out. I wish you well on your up coming back operation.

The ramp is good to go. No fees.
I was catching the Perch and Crappie in less than 20' of water, very close to shore. I was in the Narrows.
The docks at Port Ramp were also producing for several people.

[#0000FF]Sounds like it is still an early fall pattern. As the water chills the fish go deeper. I prefer shallower. But with the water levels being down this year the deepest water for late fall fishing will all be behind the buoy line. I hate that.

Thanks for the info. You too WiperMac

Thanks for the report. What was the water clarity situation? Still super murky?
