Let me know if you find a map laying out what is public and what is private...

There are a ton of access points for the Ogden River, yet I dont have a map. There is a Walk In Access point right by the Oaks in Ogden canyon if you are wanting to fish in the Canyon. Down in town there is a pathway along much of the river and it is all public access and open to fishing. [reply][/reply]

I should make it more clear by saying im talking about in the canyon. Unless im seeing the map wrong, its saying the pathway along the river is private. Also is their any private parts through the canyon that im able to legally be on the other side of the river? I want to know each and every spot that im allowed to be.

I fish the canyon quite a bit. Only had one home owner tell me not to fish behind his house. Just east of the Alaskan inn there is four house on the south side of the road. He has a forklift and a little sports car in the drive. East of that is a public access spot but the tree with the sign fell in the river a couple years ago. Always be polite and don't loiter and you should be just fine.

I was under the impression that once in the water via a public access point, you can fish anywhere in the river, as long as you stay in the water....the land owner doesn't own the stream bed, do they?

Thanks for the heads up on the house. I want to avoid any real problems, and be respectable. It sounds like people in that area are not to bad, so hopefully fishing in the canyon wont be as bad as I was originally thinking.

It was this way, but I don't think it is anymore. Maybe Riverdog or someone will jump in with facts.

Governor Herbet took that right away years ago. If I remember right house bill 141. The public doesn't have any rights to public water. Put a little "r" after a candidates name, no matter how big a crook, and he wins by a landslide.
