Grape PowerBait
#1
Anybody have any luck using Grape Nymph PowerBait. I tried it Saturday and didn't get any hits on it. Course, trout fishing was slow. Maybe when fishing is fair to good, I'll try it again. Any opinions? Thanks.

Where did you try that was slow? Trout should be hot right now. Grape? Interesting, but Purple "flies" have been really great right now...maybe a flavor thing?[crazy]

Sounds like my wife. She had a thing for bubblegum once.

I tried the purple nymph several years ago. It had the black specks in it. Not sure if it was "grape", but I didn't have much luck with it.

I've noticed that with power bait, I think the color makes more of a difference than the scent. I think brighter colors (yellow, orange, chartruse) work much better than the darker colors such as the purple nymph.

Always have a peanut butter sandwich along in case the fish don't bite.

My most productive color year round is Black and Purple. Of course mine is feathers and more in the movement, but again I have tried other colors, but the Black./Purple is the colors that are a gimmie. I do fish it right off the bottom.

Gotta assume that the Power Bait uses different flavoring. Try some Garlic, Anise, or Vanilla on this color and see if that helps.

My favorite Powerbaits are Garlic Rainbow and Salmon Peach. I may try a double-leader line with Grape on one hook and Garlic Rainbow on the other hook. Or wait till I get my limit then try the Grape. I use two poles so it is fun to experiment on different baits or lures.

My neighbor told me to try some flies with a weighted bubble. I may have to PM you so I can buy some flies that work.
