Started out by the dam around 8am. Threw powerbait on one rod and threw a joes fly on another. Fish had nothing to do with powerbait but every cast or every other cast at worse with the joes fly resulted in a fish. All were small planter's and hungry and active. Left there maybe an hour later to visit boat ramp. Caught a few cuts off the bottom that pushed 20 and 21". One fought good the others fought like Mike Tyson of old. Moved to the Berry side near the ladder's and chicken creek west but by then the wind and waves kicked up and pushed me off. Did have one LARGE fish come up for my Joe's fly right off the drop off at Chicken Creek west. Looked to be well over 5lbs but guess we will never know. Cold day up there but fishing was great.

This is a Joes fly. Thanks to a friend of mine who introduced me to them they are single handedly the best lure I have ever used and no this isn't a sales pitch. Sucks that sportsmans, Cabelas, or Scheels doesn't carry them. Wal-Mart of all places. If you ever decide to try one buy the one that weighs the most and has the big metal spacer(hence the weight). I would suggest one in gold and one in silver. Wal-Mart is very limited on what they have but their website has a lot. I have only used 3 different kinds but have caught small mouth, bluegill, perch, white bass, and trout on them. Things are awesome and only need a really slow retrieve and bet part is it usually stays right under the surface so when those fish are boiling or jumping or when they are cruising sub-surface you know a joes fly will work.

Wow, that is interesting, I can't say I have ever seen one, thanks for sharing the pic and info about the Joes fly. So, can I look it up on the Walmart web site with the name Joes Fly? Have you found them only on-line or can you just walked into any Walmart and find them?

I've seen those at Wal-Mart but never thought they would really work...guess I was wrong. Maybe I'll have to give them a test drive of my own. Thanks for sharing man!

I should have clarified, not wal-mart website its joesflies.com. I have only tried the elite series. I think it would be hard to cast the other ones that don't weigh much. Any Wal-Mart has them their supply is usually poor though.

I had a lot of fun with Joe's flies early in the season at Deer Creek and Strawberry.
I don't like a lot of the "stock" flies but it's easy to change them out. I personally like using a flavor of bugger (color depending on lake and season).
Oh yeah, and we usually tied a second fly behind them when trolling. That was money some days.
The ones I have I just walked into Walmart and bought. They sell a three-pack on occasion and I usually just get that since I plan on replacing all the flies anyway.
When I do use the stock flies I always cut off the second treble hook. It really tends to mess up the fish when releasing bunches.
