Strawberry … Veteran’s Day … Thumbs Up
#1
[#0000ff]Mama Coot and I do get out fishing together occasionally but not nearly as often as I like. So when she agreed to go to the Berry with me yesterday (Veteran’s Day) I was pretty excited. The weather was so wonderful and the fish wanted to play.

We only caught cutthroats … no rainbows. Early on, Mary landed this nice one:

Then another decent one:

[#0000ff]Check out the rod Mary is using. Even though she used all of the rods on the boat one time or another, this is the one she liked the best. It was custom built for her by utwalleye. It is a 4 ½ foot shorty medium-heavy bait-cast rod done in one of her favorite colors. She hopes to catch a Gorge mack on it this coming spring:

Oh!!! Dang, it got a way!

By the end of the day (noon) the weather was warm, Mary was quite tired, and she had just boated this nice 22 inch “thumbs up” cutthroat:

So with me having caught six and Mary 11, we called it a good day and packed up to go home.

Leaving at noon might seem to be a short day of fishing for most folks. But for Mary it was quite draining. Even though her cancer is in remission, for her, a day of fishing is extremely exhausting. I kind of wondered if she might have been going just to satisfy me. But she assured me that she really enjoyed it. I know I did. I love spending my free time with her especially when it can be some time on the water fishing.[/#0000ff]

Lures: 2.5 inch pearl white holographic tub jigs with 3/8 oz. lead heads. Tipped with chub, worm, or both.

Location: Big points in the Renegade area. 30-33 feet deep water.

Technique: Slow verticle jigging or long casting with slow retrieves.

Busiest fishing of the day: 9:00 - 11:00

Ain't that the truth AT! And ya know, had she boated just one more, she would have "doubled" my catch!

Must to nice to have the wife go out with you every once in a while and in cold weather to boot. Glad to hear she is doing good and you did not have to sell your boat. Thanks for the report and pics Ralph.

Ya know Chuck, Mama Coot catching her first monster mack on that rod would be the bucket-list check off of all bucket-list wishes for me. Hopefully, we'll get-er-dun this coming June. Then I could rest in peace.

I just love the rods you have put together for me this last year.

Sounds like a good day, great report. My wife out fishes me every trip we make together, she jokes why I'm the fisherman in the family instead of her, we'd have more dinners!

Congrats coot,

I spent the day up at the bear. We had a great day and landed a couple double digit lakers to finish he day. Praise God to see your better half out with you after what she has endured and you as a great care giver. Nice report.

What a great report! Good to see your wife out with you, and congratulations on her battle with the Big C going well.

Most wives probably don't go fishing with you guys that much because they are too soft-hearted. They feel sorry for you when they out fish you!

Girls always out fish guys!! [laugh][Wink][angelic]
