I didn't participate, but received a summary from the organizers. There were 125 participants, forming 41 teams, with a total of 682 burbot caught in 2-nights. Three of those burbot had tags, one recaptured from 2011, one from 2012, and one from 2-weeks ago.
Like you said, good to remove some of those prespawn burbot.
Hope it helps, Ryno

I'm a little surprised that the harvest wasn't greater than that, but every bit helps. At just under 5.5 fish per participant, that means slow fishing for many anglers. The good news is way more fish will be harvested this winter through the ice!

Not only did the top two teams catch over half of the fish, but only 169 fish were caught by people other than the top 5 teams.
Congrats to the winners that caught 188 fish. They caught more than 36 teams combined! Second place team was right there with them!

It was my team that ended up with 188.... Lots of fun and two very long nights. I will try to get some pictures on here in the next day or two. Weather got pretty crazy on Sat night and I think that drove alot of the angers back to the docks. 25+ mph winds and whiteout snow made for an interesting hour or two. Luckily we found a spot that was sheltered fairly well and were able to stay out of the wind and stay on fish at the same time. After that it cleared up and was a gorgeous night.
The team that caught 155 Addictive fishing with Ashely Bonser looked like they caught quite a few more big females than we did. I would say that 90% of the ones we caught were smaller/ guessing mostly males.
Hopefully the tagged fish we caught is the big $$ one!!! sounds like there is a chance that one of the three caught could be.
Good times with good friends,
Shane

Shane,
First off, congrats! You guys nailed it. Out of curiosity, did you have four in your group? Did your team fish from multiple boats or just one?
That weather did look pretty gnarly, and after the numbers from the first day were so high, I'm guessing the storm shut down most teams on Saturday.
Ashley's team had 3 of the four biggest fish, so hopefully lots of their fish were females full of eggs.
I need to buy a boat!

Yeah there were four of us two in each boat. My brother flew out from ND and fished with me, two buddies were in their boat.
Fishing was definitely more difficult the second night. Thank fully my brother, who is a wizard with a jigging rod was still knocking them dead. I swear you could put that kid in the middle of a pasture with his gloomis and he would figure out a way to catch a fish.

You said it! The teams that placed this weekend had boats. It was still.possible to land a few from shore, but obviously those that had the boats, had the advantage.
Surprisingly the crowd was sparse on Sunday! Perhaps due to the lack of ice or the introduction of this years extended format. It will be a world of difference come January!
