Does anyone fish Grasmere?
#1
I notice the F & G plants Grasmere with Lahonton every fall, but I never see any reports on it. I have driven past it on many occasions but have never fished it. Am I missing anything? Mike

They plant tons of them there. I have wanted to go try it a few times but always seem to chase cats or sturgeon instead. Ron

The problem with grasmere is that it goes almost dry most years, it's not that big these days, there are a few bigger ones near there, but they have a bunch of undesirable fish in I.e. suckers/sqauw fish/carp, I have tried several times while down there, not much luck but I don't know too much about catching trout... Tried mepps spinners and worms,

I've fished it a couple times in the past, with absolutely zero luck. I think another part of the problem with fishing there is that the wind has been blowing every time I've been there. When the wind is blowing the water looks like chocolate milk. The fish can't see your (whatever you use). I've always wanted to try it through the ice, but it is kind of an out of the way place with no backup plan. I think through the ice, the water will be much clearer and perhaps the fishing would be so-so.

Did a "search" on this site and found this thread with some remarkable pics posted by Truchas Ole. Perhaps he has revisited these lakes and can shed some light on the subject. Check out his post...towards the end of the thread. Mike

The water is that color every time I have been there. I have never fished it but i stop and look it over about every time I go down there to scout or hunt. Ron
