Strawberry boat ramps?
#1
Just wondering if any one has launched a boat at strawberry since the storm Saturday? How was the ramp? I'm looking at maybe going up soon.

Good question ... I too am wondering.

However, no matter what answers you get back, I would still take a bucket of salt or chains or both just in case.

I went to deer creek Sat. did not take any salt. also did not think, snow would be on the ramp. so did not lunch my boat.
I'm going to Strawberry Wed. taking a long chain and salt hope some one is around.

We are going up in the am. We'll see what happens. Did you launch at the marina or renegade?

Launched at the marina this morning around 10. Ramp was dry, road in was hard packed snow. Road was slush when we left around 3pm. Fished around Renegade and that launch was solid white, wouldn't recommend launching there.

Catching was steady, but not fast. Best action was in 38' of water with tube jigs. 10 bows and 10 cuts.

Well we went up this morning. I sure am glad we did. The ramp at the marina was dry launching conditions were great. Water was calm and the weather was mostly cloudy. In fact for about an hour we were in sunny skys and I was fishing just a hoodie jacket. At about 11 the wind finally came up. We left around noon when the snow finally decided that it wanted to show its face.

We had 5 of us in the boat and we boated 42. Not as many as the 120 that we caught 2 weeks ago but still a great day on the water. Sure wish that it probably was not the last time this year. Not sure if we will be getting the boat up there again this year. Sure was a great fall.

Glad you had a good trip. Going to try and make it out one more time this year. What did you find to work best this time out?

Used the same thing we always use. A 4 inch white tube jig 1/8 oz head and tipped with a piece of worm nod or minnow chunk.

How are the roads to renegade in the morning? Planning on going there during the weekend to fish from the shore, but i have a 2WD. I usually get there right at sunrise, so i am a little concerend about icy roads.

Water is at its densest when it reaches 39.164 degrees Fahrenheit. When the surface reaches that temperature the water on top sinks to the bottom and the water turns over. At Strawberry, when this happens, it seems to turn the fish off from biting for a few days.
