Curt, Good job on the Brookie. Grandson and I are headed up for a few hours in the morning, is that 7" by the outlet or state ramp. I was just going to take my spud, but if it is consistent 7", Eskimo will go. We will be in a tan crew cab dually Ford with 1T plates. Ouzel [signature]

I was at the outlet . I would take your auger and your spud . You might be able to use the spud to break out some old holes.

We had a good 6" on the older ice there. I posted a report on the other HL thread.

Hey, good to meet you and your Dad also. My little fishin monster had a blast as always, if he is fishing he is happy boy. Curt, thanks for ice updates, it made for a great day on the ice for a little boy and his Grandpa to !!! and a good thing as it identified a leaky gasket on my auger to get repairded before the real work starts. Ouzel Forgot to also report my Grandson learned a lesson on cleaning out old holes today, he "sacrificed" my Eskimo two piece spud " to the Lake Gods, maybe that is why he out fished me. A retrieval rope with a small float is always a good thing on a spud bar!

True story, we had had a "spud use" class about 5 minutes prior and he did try to have loop wrapped around his wrist, sure had a shocked look after it disappeared. I have a long rope on my old one and I have used it for 30+ years. Guess Merry Christmas to me and put a rope on the new one before it leaves the shop. Grandpa grumbled a little, but we laughed on the way home that he would likely school his kids about securing the rope/ lanyard to themselves so they don't lose his spud like he did Poppas. Heck, I hope they will be using mine when I am gone and remember the good times had on various lakes. Ouzel [signature]

Had a good day today . My brother came up and fished with me . There were only 2 other people on the ice near us and they were doing well to . On Saturday there were 20 people in the same area . Today the 2 biggest fish were 18 inch brookie and 21 inch hybrid . We caught about 15 brookies today .

We only got one brook saturday. Sometimes there seem to be more in the same area depending upon the day. I wish I could figureout how to get them more often.

Was out today as well, couldn't keep them off the hook for the first hour of light, then after that it was tougher but steady all day long until right before the sun went behind the mountain and it picked up again. Biggest landed fish were a 20" cutt, and a 19" brookie. Broke off on one that was peeling drag, and the biggest fish landed today didn't even peel a little bit. Couldn't have asked for a better day to get on the ice for the first time this year. Eight to nine inches of good ice.
