Thought I would save some of you some time so you don't do what we did.
We had the itch to ice fish and thought we could find some yesterday. Well the wind and warm temps forced us into river fishing instead.
Scofield - At 7 a.m. there was a very thin skim of ice covering a small portion of the dam arm but it didn't even cross over the whole arm. By the time we drove past at 2 p.m., ALL of that ice was gone due to the wind. There is some ice on the south shallow side but didn't look thick enough yet. With the winds and temps, and the forecasted snow and winds this weekend, I would highly doubt much if any ice thicker than 2-2.5 inches for T-day weekend.
North Electric - We didn't walk down to it but a very small skim. Lots of snow up there so long walk to even check it.
Huntington - an inch of crappy ice followed by an inch of slush followed by an inch of good quality ice. If it was all frozen together, it would be thick enough. But my axe sliced right through it and it only got warmer and windier yesterday. But ice capped most of the lake.
Cleveland - this one was ALMOST ready. It had an 1.5 inches of good ice with 1.5 inches of bad ice. It was tempting to try but it only got warmer and windier. May be ready by T-day weekend but depends on how much snow falls and insulates the ice.
I hope this helps. Unfortunately another warm November and very little ice by T-day.
