Just received a new Echo Carbon 5 wt. that I purchased for myself for the holiday season. The only problem is that my wife wants to wrap it up and won't let me use it until after Christmas. [frown] How do I get around that???

Tell her fly rods are like cars you have to test drive them to make sure they suit your casting style... [angelic]

Wow really you payed it with your own money and your wife takes away from you. I would just grab it and take a 3 day fly fishing trip / winter camping if I were you [laugh].

Love both of those ideas!!! I showed them to my wife and she agreed that they were great ideas as well. She thought they were pretty funny. With the weather being nice this week, I am sure I can get it out at least once.
As far as flyfishinglover's response, after 20 years of successful marriage, I live by the words used in a popular T.V. show right now, "As long as momma is happey, everyone is happey, happey, happey!!" [cool]

[quote Flyfishinglover]Well I'm not looking into marriage or dating any time soon. I'm to young for someone else to ruin my dreams in life that I have too accomplish. [:p]

Oh FFL. Being 20 and in a serious relationship for 2.5 years none of my dreams have been crushed by my girlfriend. She's actually helped me do some of them already. I bought my self a reel and lined it and my gf took it away from me until my b-day and I wasn't upset at her for it. And for the whole fishing thing....I go flyfishing more now than I did before I got with her. It'll take a "special" kinda lady to satisfy your needs.
