My son and I finally came out of the food coma from Thanksgiving and decided to go fishing. However we got this notion a bit late in the day so we stayed close to home and went to Little Dell. When we got there there were four other fishermen on the lake and one of them told me had only had one bite and the others that we talked to had no fish at all. The wind was blowing a bit and the fish weren't jumping so I tried some lures first. After getting nothing to hit the lures I put on a black wooly bugger with a gold bead head and my son used a brown woolly bugger. I was getting lots of wimpy hits that wouldn't stay on until I found out they wanted a very slow retrieve. After that the fun was on. I still missed lots of hit but we ended up with about six to eight nice cuts each. I even caught a rainbow which I didn't think they planted in the lake. Has anyone else caught a bow out of there ? Some of the fish we caught were on the skinny side, maybe they are getting too many fish in there.

Thanks for posting your report and pics. Some good looking trout. Were you fly fishing?

The fish in your pictures look pretty healthy to me, but I have seen some real "fatheads" up there this year with very little body weight.
I also have not caught or seen cought any small fish, no minnows running the shore, no small cutts, like a couple of year classes are missing.
Maybe the Dell is in trouble.

Yes, I noticed you said you were using flies, what I'm asking is were you fishing with a fly rod or just a fly behind a casting bubble?

Good question. And if so, floating line or sinking? That is definitely a Bow, pretty cool.

Never have caught a bow out of there. Hope it wasn't one of those East Canyon rainbows migrating to Little Dell through buckets.

I doubt the place is in trouble. I have seen lots of minnows cruising the shore, caught a few small and larger cutts than I have seen in the past.

LOL, I even looked at the pics and didn't notice that, thanks. I was thinking that was what he was doing but thought he might have switched over to Fly rod.

We were using a casting rod with a clear bubble since I didn't bring up the fly rods.
