It allows you to grab the upper rod to help fight with out fear of breakage.

That looks awesome. If the rivers I fish that grande I can see getting one. Still would be fun to try. Spey rods similar but I just got a TFO switch rod to try sw idaho rivers next year. Can I get 1 of each type for xmas?!!!

Nice. Interesting approach. Their handle allows full flex all the way to the butt.

You've probably heard it before: "The power potential is located in the rod's lower shaft." Me too. Unless their rod is a special taper.
