New Henry's report.
#1
Hey all,

I just got back from my yearly Henry's trip late last night. I fished Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. If you could bare the cold, then fish could be caught, although it was much slower on Saturday after the storm blew in on Friday evening. I caught about 65 fish in 3 days. Any type of jig, or any color of paddle bug tipped with a worm seemed to work just fine, or else nothing did. The mornings were good, but then bite seemed to go in spurts after that. I found more fish in water under 10 feet than I did in water over 10 feet. It seemed the Brookies where mostly in about 6 FOW or less and liked the bait within 6 inches of the bottom.

I got one great fish and several good fish along with lots of little (little = under 16 inches).

Caught my best cut ever on this trip. It was 27 inches and had a girth of 17 inches. I plugged those numbers into an online weight calculator and it spit out 9.75 pounds. The pictures don't do it justice.

Peace-out.

Thanks for the report. That is a great fish! I had plans to go up today but when I saw a temp of -18 last night at 10 pm with zero wind my conviction disapeared. Besides I have next weekend off so maybe I can do it then.

It was -14 with a slight breeze when I caught that hog. It never really got any better either. Trouble is, that after driving 350 miles to fish, I'm fishing. I don't care how cold it gets. I'm going to do my best to fish, anyway.

Another nice thing about weathering a brutal weekend like last is that from here on out it will all seem like Hawaii.[Smile] (Well, most of it at least, on this side of the state).

Curt,

Sending PM next.

Nice fish! And great report. We were there Saturday with 8 scouts and four leaders. Was pretty consistent and same-seemed to be hitting everything. Glad we all had shelters w/heaters! We landed around 30i would guess in about 4 hrs. 1big hybrid (around 4#s) but a lot of good 18-20" fish. Only two brookies. We were out in 7-9 fow , county dock area.

The scouts are dying to go ice fishing again. I think we are going to have to make a Henrys lake ice fishing scout trip an annual tradition. I can't remember the last time I unhooked so many fish that I hadn't caught.

Nice fish hooknhunter
