I took my 6 year old on the hard deck this afternoon at Hyrum. Our first catch was a double and after that it was non-stop. We only fished for a bit over an hour and he ended up catching 7 and I caught 6. He made sure we left once he was in the lead. The ice was a good, solid, clear 4 inches (rounding up) and we were fishing in 8 to 16 feet about a crank off the bottom using jigs tipped with 1/2 of a meal worm. Good times and great memories with the kid.

Awesome, nothing like grins on a kid. Find any perch?
Welcome aboard, maybe we'll cross tracks out there. Mind if I ask where you "launched" from? I've rarely tried from the W-side, usually a beach to inlet type venture.
Left while he's in the lead, love that! I'll bet like most parents, the kid "winning" is a "win" for the Dad too! Game on!

We "launched" from the boat ramp and fished out in front of the cabins. Didn't see any perch.
