What a beautiful day at Henry's today. Sun shining and hardly no wind. Iced at least 30 fish today and kept two nice four pounders. A little lull around noon but steady action all day long. The trick is finding a spot to get out of the salad and that may take drilling exploratory holes till you find a spot. I caught fish on everything I used today. The best was a white paddlebug, just as good was a tiger slush bug. Thanks to the two guys that helped me out getting out of all the weed!

Hey Taz.
Glad to help you out man. The salad can be tough to deal with. Looks like you ended up with a great catch. Congrats. Hope to see you up there again.

That was a crazy fun day of fishing. I've never fished Henry's before and I'll definitely be back. Good to run into you Taz. Hopefully we'll be back out next week!

I would love to hit it again next week myself. Got a few tricks up my sleeve I would love to try. Did you guys weigh that one big toad that you landed?

Never did weigh it, but it was a pretty nice fish. Guessing around 22" and pretty solid. I've lived SE Idaho my entire life and have never fished that lake until this week. [crazy] After that trip we were thinking we've been missing out on a lot!!

Awww yea! On both accounts. In my experience on Henry's (and mind you I rarely weigh a fish) the trout around 24" are your four pounders. They are solid, thick fish.

Good thing I carry a Berkley electronic scale with me. In my personal opinion there are only two lakes that regularly defy the odds of weight standards. Henry's and Chesterfield. I caught a brookie this spring in Henry's that was 24 inches and went just over six lbs. And yet other fish that I have caught trolling haven't had the shoulders of others and they have went the four lbs like you are saying and have been a 24 inch fish. You might be shorting yourself on weight on those big fish you are catching at Henrys. How much did that monster you caught up there weigh a few years back? Anyway its Henry's till closing then you know where you will find me afterwards. We might not agree on our weights but I'm sure you will agree with me that there not a place ANYWHERE that matches the beauty of a Henry's lake cutt or brook trout!

I know you are not going to believe this . A couple of years ago I posted pictures of a fish I caught at Henry's that was 24 inches long and 24 inches around . It weighed 8 pounds . If you go to my profile and look at my gallery there is a picture of this fish .

That fish is awesome. He's like the T-rex of fish. Big head, huge body, tiny little tail part. But yeah, I see where the 8 comes from. I hope for one of those one of these days!

I hooked my first true toad last winter in front of the fish hatchery and straightened a leech jig hook. It had to have took out at least fifty feet of line. At least I can say I know how one feels on the line, now I would like to see how it feels with one in my hands.
