Northerns through the ice?
#1
this past summer was my first year fishing for northern pike. I had an absolute blast! I'd like to continue fishing for the northerns through the winter time. I have absolutely no experience whatsoever catching them through the ice. Does anybody have any tips, techniques or anything they like to share on the subject? Thanks!

I did a lot of reading last year before going after them through the ice and it helped. go to the in-fisherman site and that will help answer your questions, there's a variety of options for jigging through the ice and dead bait setups.

Awesome, I'll check that out! I can't wait for Yuba to harden up. Should be a good year. Thanks

Went past Yuba on Sunday and it looked like no open water from the Painted rock end..

good luck finding them. i have spent a long time fishing yuba for pike on the ice.. it can be done but not easy at all.. there are areas you'll have a better chance at them. the big ones seem to disappear when the ice hit's tho.. the smaller ones are even hard to come by with the ice on.. even when targeting them i have caught more fishing for perch there then fishing for pike..
spend lot's of time on it and ya might get ya one..

Might want too call in the TDT or ETDT. They caught a few last year.
