Bear lake , dare I say ice
#1
Will bear lake freeze over again this year? Is that the big question on everyone's mind. Most likely not(fingers crossed) I can remember a long time back when it did freeze over two consecutive years. But in recent years it will usually get a thin layer of ice for a week or so, then the wind blows it off.

But I guess we will see....

If it doesn't ice up this year, we will miss out on many reports and posts of 20+ lb fish , and pics, and the usual suspects of where is the Rock pile?

Whatever the lake does ... You can be sure I will be on it

I'd think it'll freeze. It's been much colder this year so far than it was last winter.

Yes it has been colder earlier this year, but will a January thaw come early too? Will the wind not blow?

My money's on no ice fishing , but could have sheets of thin ice.... Like the past 5 years before last.

It's good you've got all that upper body strength or that photo wouldn't have been possible. I need to get my butt over there before I loose my mind.

I heard from a neighbor that has a cabin over there that it froze over the weekend. But when I check the webcam it looks open to me. Did it freeze and blow off or is he full of it and trying to spin me up? This would be way early to freeze if that was true. Thanks J

No ice !!!! The whole lake is open, easy to dock a boat too. You could tell there was ice, a few ice sheets still floating around , but thin and small.

I've seen it get an inch and half then blow open again, your right on the time, if it does freeze it will be January. But it was warm over there today and wind blew hard in the mourning.

It was really slow over there today

Interesting if its starting to build some ice already. I know the inversion changes everything when the valleys stay cold and elevations warm up. Hope it doesn't ruin the chance for ice. Thanks for the info. J

Man that's a heat wave, not much freezing at that temperature. Thanks for the report. J
