How's the luck with wax worms at mantua?
#1
Been using meal worms with great luck and I know they are similar but just curious. Been killing good size trout but haven't had luck with perch blue gills or bass. Anyway, what's everyone's story with wax worms this last week up there.

My experience has been Trout closer to the dam.Panfish closer to the knoll. We used dropper rigs tipped with waxies then perch eyes after that. small ratfinkes or demons at the end of the dropper( gold kastmaster)

Monday, we did very well with waxies.
Gills, Perch and Bows were all interested and hungry.
I also tried mealies with the same success.

Thank you, taking my brother in law tomorrow. After seeing our success last week hewas eager to get fishing. Was just curious cause I wasnt sure if they would hit as well and I guaranteed some fish with last week's results lol

We fished Mantua on Wednesday over by the inlet. The action was fast for the bluegill and we even iced a few trout as well. We used Gill-Getter's, Rat Finkee's, Lindy Ice worms, and Lindy Frostee Jigs. They all worked great but they had to be green and tipped with wax worm.

I fished Sunday and Wednesday along with the knoll crowd. Sunday I had no bait (stores closed) but caught trout on white jigs with a 1" Gulp Alive minnow. Wednesday it was white jigs with waxies and/or green Gulp maggots. They seemed to really like a jig tipped with both.

I caught perch, bluegill and trout on Wednesday, releasing all but three trout. Perch were in nine feet of water and trout in six, suspended midway between ice and bottom.

Location? Just find lots of old holes and auger in.
