Anyone know any areas near Richfield that have fish able ice?
#1
First off hello again to all my Utah friends on bigfishtacle. It has been a while since I have been around here. I am in Richfield for the next few days and my brother in law and one of my sons would like to do some ice fishing. Does anyone know of some good fishable ice near here. I still need to round up an auger or chipper but have the rest of my gear any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Good choices. What about Fish Lake? Any safe ice yet - maybe on the south end? One more question - what kind of fish is in Koosharem these days?

I've seen some pictures of someone fishing the ice at fish lake last week, but he was standing awfully close to open water at least for my liking.

If he was by twin creeks, there is almost always open water near by.

Looks like otter creek is where we decided to go. Any advice on where on the lake to fish? We couldn't find an auger so we may have to see if there is anyone kind enough to let us use one up at the lake or find some old holes with thin ice. It will be a bit of an adventure. Thanks all for the input.

I was at Fish Lake over the weekend with great success. The only fishable area is the south side of the lake. The majority of the lake is still open.

Ice was 4-6" clear and solid. No worries about getting on or off.

We fished 18' of water. Typical catches were perch and smaller to medium rainbows and splake. We used hard baits and plastics both tipped with crawlers in the middle of the day. The trout were really aggressive and same with the perch.

Note: you will have to travel 100+ yards to find water deep enough that holds fish on the south end.

If you hit FL you should have some non-stop action for a good part of the day.
