Fish Lake (north end) 1-4-14
#1
Duckbutter has already reported the conditions, so I won't say anything further, except to note that I didn't venture out of my Ice Cube. Which is highly unusual for me.

We parked at Joe Bush and appeared to be the first ones of the ice season to cross the ice there. The ice was 3" thick and I am confident that one couldn't have fished it the day before. There is a small area of open water maybe 200 yards from the parking area and a large area of open water near the east shore.

Catching was fast and furious for perch if one is into catching them, which I am not, and steady for small rainbows. I only caught two splake and macks were non-existent.

As always, great fishing with Kory again and a pleasure meeting and fishing with Deryck.

I was wondering how the ice was out that way. That wind was the worst I have fished in, changing holes was not an option. Glad you caught a couple of splake.

I think we saw you way over there, we were in that area on the north end that had a few tent setups. I've never fished fish lake when it wasn't blowing like crazy and the last time I was down there the wind was much worse than it was yesterday. I just expect a hurricane everytime down there and hope that I don't go for a ride on that ice.

I visit the site and do a lot of reading, but rarely post. We were at fish lake as well, fishing in city of tents just off the south boat ramp. We fished deeper than most (80-90 feet), and had a steady stream of rainbows for most the day. Caught one splake and couldn't find the macs for anything. The wind was ridiculous. Bent two of my tent anchors. We also lost one of our Eskimo 3 man tent bags, as well as a green camping chair bag. If anyone happened to find them, let me know. With that wind, they were off the lake within 30 seconds of flying away I'm sure.
