I go to the west side of rockport while it was still dark hoping to catch the early breakfast run. I fished pretty shallow and caught a small 10" planter pretty quick and had just a few bites after that.
Around 11 am my pops came down and we headed over by the spillway to see if fishing was any better. The fishing was just as slow but my dad did manage to pull a nice SMB 4 feet off the bottom in about 40-50 FOW.
I have heard so many mixed reports about the fishing at rockport this year. Unfortunately I havent shared in any of the good ones. All in all, beautiful day on the ice with my dad and also managed to scope a few bucks on the way home.
Next time I will be back for perch if Jordanelle hasnt frozen over yet.

We were there as well and did "ok". Caught a bunch of small rainbows and maybe a 1/2 dozen perch fishing in 16-20'.
Watched some guy roll his 3 wheeler on himself. Passed 2 ambulances on the way out...hopefully he wasn't hurt too bad.
Any advice on the perch in regards to water depth?

I cant seem to get into the rainbows at rockport this year. Ya, a few here and there but not like last year. Were you on the east or west side of the lake?

East side out from Twin Coves campground. We probably caught +30 rainbows, but only a few big enough worth keeping.

Thanks for the Jordanelle update. I really cant wait till that lake gets capped. I usually fish over on the East finger and do pretty well for perch and trout. Its crazy that two lakes (jordanelle and rockport) can be so close together and one be 9in thick and one still have open water.

Glad somebody had some success there. I also fished Rockport on the 5th, only I was near the Wanship dam. Arrived at sunrise so bite should have been good. Fished for a couple hours with only one bite and only 3 fish seen on sonar. Tried about 7-8 different holes at various depths, and a variety of baits and jigs. Others around me were having similar luck. Didn't see a single fish caught. Left early at 10:30am to fish at Deer Creek to salvage my day - which I am glad I did.
