Not today, Saturday night, caught a bunch right at sundown , had one or two that felt good that would get off, could only pull in the little ones , soft soft taps....

Wow nice to finally hear something about that little puddle. How deep was the water?

Deepest I found was 15 or 16. All the fish I caught from bass to crappie were a bright yellow color it was weird.

That is weird! I wonder if any tigers survived. I thought the water got much lower than that.

Doubt it!! Maybe a couple but I heard some tragic stories about the demise of a large number of BIG muskies.

Yeah I heard about that also. But with 15 feet of water you would think there could still be a couple lurking in there. Who knows though.

That was stupid planting muskie in that little duck pond anyway[:/]

yep. Real stupid. I mean, how many years has it provided a tiger musky fishery for lots of people anyway? Like, 15? 20?
big mistake. Should have never done it. What a waste. [signature]

Well, all the old timers really hate the musky, I work with a guy that talks of the old days on newton , when i showed him the pic of the crappie I caught, it was like a small glimmer of light came to his eye with a half
![]() He may have heard the the story too of the demise of the musky? IDK. But thanks to the division for putting the Muskie in there, now every young man in cache valley has their picture on the walls of sportsman whearhouse and Al's sporting goods, all with the same five Muskie , that being said, not very many people have the opportunity to catch a 36 inch fish, to show their wives or mothers how manly they still are. I would have shown my wife if I had ever caught one!!! Most importantly, may The Lord help us, if some jerk caught one in newton and thought it would be cool to realese it in cutler.... I duck hunt in cutler dang it !!!!! I don't need old toothy bumping me while I'm out picking up decoys [signature]

recall catching some very pink bluegills under ice last year. Sometimes that water gets real tea-stained, and with it being SO low and concentrated - bet it's gonna be tough on O2 levels.
If only they coulda just opened the floodgates, and let all the musky swim down to Cutler. Better than rotting in a ditch.

What happened with the muskies

I agree but there is no water in cutlar either. Two fisheries wiped out in one year, awesome!

Do you think the Kitty Fishing will be hurting this year in Cutler?

PBH, the Musky fishery hasn't been "good" for close to 15 or 20 yrs, more like 6-7yrs. I have fished out there for 18 years and used to very, very rarely see a musky caught, like we would see one lurking the shallows 2 or 3 times in a summer, two years ago it was probably close to 50-100 we would see a day. Back then, the panfishing was unbelievable, huge bluegill and tons of 10-13" perch, I never got to into the crappie fishing back then but I had friends who would catch slabs all night long. About 12 years ago we had a bad drought, it got atleast as low if not lower than this year, and the musky, along with all the panfish, were pretty well wiped out. As the fishery rebounded, thats when the DWR went all musky crazy and started stocking them in there like mad. What used to be a rare, trophy catch, my friends and I were now often catching 3-4 a day, through the ice, and twice that in the summer. I think that is why the panfish never fully rebounded like they once did, but i'm no biologist.

I don't think it will help it, but I don't think it will ruin it either. There is still spots in the river with 10+ft of water that should hold cats, but its sure that the minnows have really been thinned as well as all the plants that support all life in the area. I think it will take a big set back but time will tell. Let's hope for the best. Later J

Cutler will have none if any change, it was drained lower to just a small channel about 6 years ago for the same amount of time, it didn't seem to effect it. This time they at least left it half full
