They caught one in the nets last year and I heard of one caught last year through the ice on the south end of the lake.

Utah lake isn't a pike fishery there might be just a few swimming around nothing close too yuba or other lakes with pike.

I have seen / and caught 5 in the last year. All were in the marina at Saratoga. 18-24" and fat. I think there are more than people think.....

It's also one of the rare "catch and kill" species. You must immediately kill any northern pike caught from Utah Lake, per the 2014 Fishing Guidebook.

The carp removal is evidentially allowing a suppressed population of pike to expand. Who knows what other species we may see being caught as a result of lessened predation on the eggs of all species by the carp.

And yet carp in Yuba seem to be the only reason that pike are doing well there. I don't think there have been any pike in Utah Lake for decades. Now that there are a lot of pike in Yuba, and a lot of boats with live wells, I think a lot of the fish that are the perfect size for a live well are being caught at Utah Lake. Go figure. Anybody seeing any of the 35 to 40 inch pike in Utah Lake? Nope? Why not?

They are in there because the DWR planted them there many years ago, and I'm sure there are some in there in the 30" + range. [signature]

I know the DWR planted them. So… where have they been for the last 30 years? If they have been spawning and reproducing, then there should be some MONSTERS in there. They've had chubs, perch, white bass, blue gill, carp, suckers and whatever else to eat. And yet there ain't any 30 pounders caught outta there. Why? I think it's because they didn't do well when they were planted 30 years ago. I think the ones that are in there now have been moved via live wells. Lets hope it doesn't end up like yuba. The fishery in yuba has been ruined by the pike. They eat everything in site. I think why you are seeing them now, is someone is transplanting them into the lake. It is a catch and kill species. In my book, I hope they are all caught and killed in both lakes. Perch fishing in yuba was great, until they got in there. Wait until they populate utah lake and take it over.
