[fishin] Drove over to look at Ririe Res. Looks like its going to cap for us for awhile this season finally. They say there is about 6 inches once you get out on to the res. Still a little thin around the edges. This guy was fishing just out from the skiffs below the over flow parking lot. Did not get a chance to talk to him to see how fishing was.

I am going to be there Saturday. Hope it doesn't melt off next week as it gets a little warmer. I woundn't be suprised if there were some spots with thinner ice for the next day or two.

I would think from the middle over to the far side should be plenty thick, it has had steady ice for quite awhile, its just this near shore that is going to be thin. Supposed to be lots of wind the next 2 or 3 days too, thats never good for new ice. I sure hope it firms up, I've been itching to fish over there for awhile now.

Really appreciate the report! Way cool that you drove up there and checked it out. If the roads are bad Saturday I will scratch AF and go to Ririe.

Went to ririe this morning. All I can say is brrrrrrr! Holes were freezing as fast as we could skoop them out. Fishing was slow but I'm new to ice fishing for kokes this was my first time. We caught two. The guy next to us also caught two in about three hours. We had on maybe five other fish but couldn't ice them. The ice was solid. We fished out from the private docks. I'd say about six inches of clear solid ice or more once you get about 100 yards from shore. A little thinner by the bank but thick enough. Hopefully today adds a few more inches before it warms up. Do you ririe veterans have any pointers for catching kokes? Depth? Jigs? Time of day? Any help would be appreciated.

[fishon]. Use small stuff, I mean small!!!! Fire corn works well also. Fish usually are between 12 to 15 feet. If you have a flasher or graph would be very helpful. I use 4 lb test line also. They like a little jig action to, not to fast and alternate your jigging patterns.
