Deer Creek Ice?
#1
I hear the Slush Monster is out in full force at most of our lakes and reservoirs. Anyone had any problems getting on/off at Deer Creek?

I also heard Strawberry was nasty and essentially unfishable due to the slush and ice. Can anyone confirm that for me?

Thanks in Advance!

That is good news!

Anyone hear how strawberry is doing? Looking for options, though deer creek may just be the safest bet...

I can confirm the SC side of Strawberry has slush - 12 to 16 inches of water on top of the ice with 12 to 16 inches of snow on top of the water. Very difficult!

With temps in the mid to upper 50's here in the valley, I would think Deer Creek would suffer from this. Plus all the rain.

I'm certainly worried about this. I'm not ready to be done with the ice yet, (mostly because I don't have a boat or fly rod. Hah) and I'm hoping it cools off a bit and gives me a few more weekends to ice some fish.

Maybe I'll make a quick trip out to dc tonight and see what the ice is like.

Deer Creek didn't have enough snow on it to suffer from slush. It may start to rot, but not likely to have slush on it.

Well, I suppose the chance at actually getting out and fishing might be better than trying to wade through the above mentioned slush. Looks like I'll be trying Deer Creek this weekend, (if I can get the Wife's permission to go.) I'll let ya'll know how it goes. Thanks for the help! Smile
