Millsite - in between
#1
I fished Millsite Reservoir today in my float tube from 12:30 until 3:30. The reservoir has refrozen a bit from the last time I was here. I had to park on the north end of the dam and walk to the point of the dam to launch. There was a lot of open water to access from there. I fished in 40' - 50' of water with the fish being suspended between 20' - 30' down. I used a fast sinking line with a size 4 bead head olive/red crystal bugger, a size 6 bead head olive leech, and a size 6 bead head olive/red soft hackle fly. I caught four rainbows, from 13" to 15" long, and four cutthroats, from 13" to 14" long. The water temperature was 37 degrees and the visibility in the water was between 10' - 12'. The reservoir level is at 71% and stable. With the warm temperatures and the expected wind, the reservoir should open up a lot more in the coming days. The last two trips over here I have not been able to hook any tigers or splake. It was not fast fishing but for February, I'll take it.[Wink]

Hi LOAH. Joe's is still locked up with ice so if your an ice fisherman your good to go. I've included a link to the Emery Water web site for their camera on Joe's that looks west from the dam. You can just check that from time to time. They also have one for Huntington North Reservoir. Good luck!

Nice! I didn't know there was a way to check that camera. Thanks again.

It looks like the JV camera is not working right now but the one for Huntington North is showing the ice sheet is starting to move around so it won't be long before it opens up. Happy fishing!
