Starvation Report 3/14 & 15
#1
Went to Starvation on Fri and Sat. Friday to check out boat and Sat to take out the grandsons. Water is clear and very close to full pool.

Fri all worked well for an hour with five small bows back in Saltarus when trolling motor started acting up. Had trouble with this last year too, when it started sucking air instead of gas. Switched over to big engine, but 2.2 mph was too fast for the eyes and bows. Water temp was 36F and light wind. Trolled cliff walls and back at Strawberry River inflow, but no good. Lots of gas bubbles coming off the bottom that are easy to confuse with fish on the sonar. Came home to fix the 9.9.
Sat: Got grandkids situated and back out to Saltarus for the smaller bows. Big wind and colder that Friday. Water temp 35F. Lots of small bows 14 to 15" to entertain the kids. Maybe 20 to 25 in 4 hours. Released all. No eyes. Bows were down 15 to 20 ft so used divers to reach them. Home-made spinners w/2 hooks and piece of worm @ 1.7mph. Late last Fall green and crystal were the colors, but this Spring it is chartruse and orange again. Kids would have caught many more if I had changed colors earlier. Sorry didn't take pics.

Trolling motor acted up again, but didn't matter as it took the bigger engine to fight the wind anyway. Looks like I need a new fuel line connector as present one won't stay tight. Put some silicone around it last year, but I think a new one will work better. Anyone else have trouble with this on a Merc Bigfoot 9.9?

They have new fuel line connectors for a merk at Wall mart for about 6 bucks.

Many thanks. Better than driving all the way to SLC.
