Never hooked into a walleye, any tactics, bait, scent, tips would be great for some UL walleys. Is it better to target before the spawn or after?? Thank you

Good luck. Walleye are kinda trickey and tactics will be easy to learn, but time, place etc are often guarded secrets. Right now along the dikes at Willard you'll get some if you drag or float nightcrawlers..

After the spawn seems to be better for me. During the spawn, try a white feather jig with a slow retrieval and find some good gravel. They will sometimes hit it, thinking that its a white bass in the spawning bed. The hardest part, is finding a good area without all the snags. I think chartreuse is the #1 fished color of that lake, i use it a lot, but white is my go to color when things are slow. After the spawn, try a minnow on the bottom, works for walleye and the cats.

Yep thats good advisebright green and white curly tail jigs is about all i use, you need to fish it slow and bounce it off the bottom or around a tributary, some times tipping it with a piece of worm can help, they usually bite really softly so when you feel tention jerk, and bring plenty of jigs like i said they love rocky areas and youll lose a few jigs while going after them. The saying is (if your not snagging your not fishing for walleyes ) good luck and if you get some ill tell ya they are delish!!!!
