Sunny, Windy Mantua
#1
Sitting on the couch watching WFN and other people catch fish, I thought to myself, this is just stupid get up and go fishing. So we hooked up the boat and headed up the hill to Mantua. Surprised to see so many boats on the lake, it was a regular armada for a March day.

When we put in about 12:30 the water temp was 46 and only moved up to 47 for the next four hours. Fishing was slow for us, but I was doing a gear shakedown before the FLW tourney next week and we were only really trying to target bass. But things don't work like they should and I was tossing my Maniac Salt Stick wacky style and set the hook on a really light bite. When I got him to the boat the 16" slimmer had my Gamakatsu all up in his face (or gill to be correct) not what I was expecting. He must have had it by the end and swimming away when I set the hook.

"Little" brother hooked the only bucket mouth on a grub, and it was a decent fish. It looked very healthy and survived the winter well.

Sounds like a fun out. Silly slimers, probably swiping at it, just doesn't know how to bite a worm.

Nice ride. Werethey all angling boats, or any skiers out?
Probably too soon for Bluegill beds.

Yote,

All anglers. I did read another post that mentioned the Weber State team was having a tourney, so that may have been the reason. I saw a group of scouts on the bank with worms and bobbers and the seemed to be catching a few gills, but nothing on the beds.
