Hit the soft water for the first time this year at DC. Launched at 7:30 am and there was a light snow. We trolled up into the Wallsburg arm and picked up some planter bows probably from the fall stocking. On the way out of the arm caught a nice bow, bigger than the other ones. Then all of a sudden lead core pole starts rocking and rolling. Brought up a 20'' brown fishing with a crocodile. We commenced over to Rainbow Bay, not a hit not a anything. We decided to head back to the dock. Got on more big hit on the lead core with the croc but it was lost soon after the bite.
Water was 38 degrees and we tallied 8 fish by 12 o'clock. We were fishing with crocodiles, rapalas, and some RMT worm harnesses. Talked to other fisherman and they had not had the luck we had. Also there were no pay envelopes at the park. I wrapped my money in a piece of paper and sent it down the tube with plate number on the paper. That crap annoys me if they want us to pay they should have the envelopes to do it

I was at deer creek today , couldn't keep the rainbows off my line. The water is semi clear, alot of surface debris. You can see about 3-4 feet down close to shore. I seen many many fish surfacing for flies.
Not too familiar with launching a kick boat, so I can't help you there.

Thanks for the information. If you can launch your yak, we can launch our tubes. Sounds like you had a good time. I have never fished DC this early in the year so I'm looking forward to it. Thanks again.

You can launch from anywhere the levels of water were about 6' from full, by looking at the rocks. I would suggest staying in the Wallsburg arm. That was where we had our best luck. Anyways good luck to you and have a safe and fun trip.

Thanks for the the helpful information. We may end up in the Wallsburg bay area if the wind kicks us off the upper end of the reservoir. Thanks again.

I agree with the frustration of the fee enelvelops missing. I also agree its wrong they charge you if nobody there is to take your money. Most of the time I don't have exact change. You don't go in a grocery store and not have a cashier.

You got to remember one thing. This time of year and even summer, if you go early fishing and I always do there will not be a person in the window to take your money or make change. I always make sure I got the right amount easy to do stop an get a coffee . But to not have envelopes that's BS. And I don't mind paying for,the facilities.
