Cascade
#1
So does anyone have the word on water/ice conditions at Cascade. I'm thinking a guy should be able to fish from the bank or boat soon.

The snow in the images at: http://www.co.valley.id.us/webcams/index.html show the snow is nearly gone so I'm thinking the ice should be melting fast.

Tackle Tom's FB shows ice receding as of 3 days ago, but that appears to be only on the east side. I wonder what's going on at the north end and at the west side?

Thoughts?

Looks like it is just starting to recede in some areas. Wind may take it off. This sat picture was yesterday.

It really helps that the sky has been clear for a week or so. Cascade is in the clouds today, but that ice was looking rotten enough that this wind may take it right off. So now with the storms moving in your best bet is to keep checking with the shops up there.

I like the sat maps in the spring for checking on snow in drainages. I have found some areas that runoff clears up sooner than other areas that way. I also use them for hiking a little later in the year. I really get bummed out if I hike all the way into a basin only to find it is still full of snow. Nice to be able to get a rough idea of the snow level before hand. Wish we could get the real time ones that are Google Earth resolution.
