hit Willard this morning ,wow what a great day trolled the dike all day with crank baits, and the wiper bite started hot and stayed hot all day, caught over 20 nice wipers, my buddy hydrofish probably had double that in his boat plus a few eyes. it is definitely time to get out if your after wipers[Smile] p/s be careful coming out of the south marina it is very shallow only about 2 to 3 feet deep!

Read Tom's report and pics, you guys are killing me, thanks for sharing your report and pic. We fished the same area and used the same lures on Wens but the water temp was not as warm. I figured they would turn on later this week but man, you guys slayed them. How did the new motor run?

Sounds like a great day! Wipers are a good fight, and pretty good eatin. I'm going to ask your opinion. Wipers seem to be coming back. Do u think that it would be because of the open season on walleye in the inlet during the spawn?

I don't know we had our best year for walleye last year though, and today was my best wiper day ever. so I think all in all Willard is doing real good for both species. I have noticed some smaller wipers coming up which I think is a good growth sign.

Hey Rich, what kind of motor did you end up getting? How early was it when you started catching fish on Sat?

Ha! You guys love Willard because Willard loves you! I haven't caught a fish in Willard since I got a smallmouth 4 years ago, and I've never caught a wiper.

Can't wait until I can figure out how to do what you guys did, but from shore or tube. It's gonna happen one of these days!

I ended up with a 06 Honda 8hp, we started catching around 7:30 as soon as we got are stuff in the water, we didn't have to look for fish hydrofish got there before us and already had them located.

keep trying we saw a lot of guys catching from tubes and the shore. the fish seem to be in close right now. but the last time tom and I went we only boated 1 fish, a big ugly carp. so the love isn't always there. we have always trolled and seemed to get into fish most days. just find yourself a go to lure or combo. and then experiment from there and you luck will change.

We tried in the inlet channel on Friday night. My friend got one, and people around me did. Thanks, though.

Willard is just one of a couple places that seem to have my number. It's almost comical how many times I have NOT caught fish there while literally EVERYBODY else was, while using the same lure, etc..........but one of these days.

Too bad the catching was so slow, just keep in mind that it is Spring at Willard and location is key.
What kind of boat were you in and did you launch from the North or South marina?
