Pineview questions
#1
Has anyone caught any perch or crappie docks or the shore yet? Also has anyone had luck for bass from the shore?

My brother and I went up yesterday evening around 5 p.m. We were targeting bass and had no luck. We were fishing the east bank just south of the port marina. There is a small point over there we figured might be holding some bass. We were wrong. I threw a finesse jig with a small rage craw trailer-no luck. Switched to a craw imitation lip-less crank, then a lipped crank-no luck. The brother thew a Carolina rig-no luck.
Like TomH, I would also appreciate some feedback from anybody who has had luck up there for bass. I've only been able to get my hands one one LM this season and itching for more!

Was all the ice off the lake or was it just receeded? I am planning on heading up there next weekend and I will let you know how I do. I will be mainly targeting tigers but will try for other species as well.

Fish for bass by the thicker reeds. They usually hang out there. Use a white jig.

Does the water level look higher or lower comparing to last year. Going to make a 2 day trip at the end of the month for the crappie, perch, "Golden musky", and maybe be a bass

BuRec says P'View is 72% full as of yesterday.

NRCS said that as of the end of March, it was 52%, so that's a large change over three weeks.

It's higher than last year and it's coming up every day. Last Friday A guy from work and I went out and paddled to the islands, they are all underwater now. Water is looking good and if we get the rain/snow this weekend it will surely help out even more. The flows from North Fork and South Fork are still going strong. Could be a decent year.

Thanks for the info. Hope that more vegetation goes under water this year. I'm waiting for the spring crappie or when the bass action get hotter. For sure I will be making a trip with my pontoon to cover more ground this year at least.

I hope so because I've caught some nice bass out there as a kid but haven't caught anything big since 2011 flood year out there. Hope the pontoon will help me out this year to cover more ground and find some bigger guys.

I've been shore fishing up there since I moved to ogden a couple years ago. I've had my best success with 3 or 4" curly tailed grubs. White, Black but mostly chartreuse. Been fishing the far north east side, past the boat club. Also, I've heard cemetary point is a good LMB area

Used to get some decent sized crappie out of there, like 8,9-10" back in the late 90's, early 2000....what is the story these days on the crappie, size wise? I remember taking my tube up into the brush and fishing small white hand tied jigs under a little corky off of my fly rod and doing quite well. anyhow, just wondering what some you folks think on the size of the crappie in pineview? thanks in advance. They have been small lately but over the years have been getting bigger. I've caught about 7-8" crappie and 8-9" perch.
